This approach involves team members from different health care and medical disciplines working together, with a common purpose, to set goals, make decisions and share resources and responsibilities for patients. In the case of Sleep Apnea, a patient might have been diagnosed by a Family doctor, then sent to a Pulmonologist, Neurologist or Sleep Specialist for treatment. Interdisciplinary care is beneficial when a patient has comorbidities and the doctors keep each other informed about their treatment plans.
